Nutritional Therapy?

WHAT IS NUTRITIONAL THERAPY?

Nutritional therapy uses an evidence based approach to create unique nutritional and lifestyle plans in order to maximise one’s health.

Nutritional therapy treats each person as an individual with their own specific requirements.

Wholesome, unprocessed foods are promoted, for optimal wellbeing, alongside utilising the therapeutic effects of specific foods, in order to support specific health concerns.

WHY SEE A NUTRITIONAL THERAPIST?

Nutritional therapy works for everyone; young or old. Whether you have a specific health concern that you want to address, or simply want to check that you are on the right track to healthy eating, a nutritional therapist can help in your goal towards identifying foods and lifestyle choices that can help you to look and feel your best.

WHAT KATHRYN WATSON NUTRITION CAN OFFER YOU

As a qualified coach, I support my clients to adopt a healthy lifestyle that works for them; providing the tools to feel confident to do this independently, on a long term basis.

I practice using the principles of Functional Medicine (for further details click here), which aims to look for the root cause of disease in an individual, and how and why this has happened. Symptoms are not looked at individually, as an isolated bodily system; the whole person is looked at. For example, factors such as lifestyle, stress, sleep, genes and environment are all considered in a consultation, as well as food.

I have particular interests in the area of women’s health, hormones, stress and anxiety, as well as children’s nutrition. I am passionate about helping families to create easy, quick, balanced meals that can be enjoyed by the whole family.

FUNCTIONAL TESTING

In addition to your personalised nutrition plan and possible supplement suggestions, I may advise some specific functional testing. I am registered with a range of private laboratories, where we can run further tests in order to help us gain a deeper understanding of the drivers of your health condition.

Some examples of these tests include:

  • Comprehensive stool analysis

  • Digestive function and SIBO

  • Genetic testing

  • Hormone testing: oestrogen, testosterone, cortisol

  • Thyroid screening, iron, vitamin testing

  • Food allergy / intolerance tests
